New WhatsApp Features: Users Can Now Send Images and Voice Messages to ChatGPT
Sending images and voice messages to ChatGPT is now possible on WhatsApp.

Interactions are critical in modern times and OpenAI has enhanced its reach to WhatsApp. The tech giant has announced several new ChatGPT features for WhatsApp users, adding support for voice messages and image-based interactions. These features play out when communicating with the chatbot via the Meta-owned chat platform.
According to OpenAI, via a post on X (formerly Twitter), users can now send voice messages or upload images directly on their WhatsApp conversations with the AI assistant. However, ChatGPT will continue to respond exclusively to WhatsApp users through text.
If you want to have access to ChatGPT on WhatsApp, you'll need to add the number 1-800-CHAT-GPT (1-800-242-8478) to your contacts. After adding the feature, the service functions similarly to the web-based ChatGPT, but with the convenience of the WhatsApp interface.
The expansion is a continuation of the initial WhatsApp integration launched in December 2024 which was limited to text-based interactions. Also, OpenAI plans to adopt account linking functionality into the system, allowing users to connect their existing ChatGPT accounts, whether Free, Plus, or Pro. This way, users can keep tabs on their chat history and get more usage from the service in Meta's app.
WhatsApp users can now enjoy AI features without necessarily having isolated applications.
