DeepSeek's Ascendancy: ChatGPT Believes Ranking Changes May Be Temporary

It's no longer a secret that the new DeepSeek app has surpassed ChatGPT and similar apps, reaching the very top of the free app download chart in the U.S. Apple Store. This has sparked discussions in the market.

DeepSeek is a Chinese company, dubbed the "Pinduoduo of large models." The model has drawn close attention from tech peers and investors both domestically and internationally, due to the rapid rise of the free application.

It's no wonder then that ChatGPT has responded to being surpassed by DeepSeek. They feel that the changes in ranking might be temporary. Also, it indicates that the AI application market is getting even more competitive, with enough room for innovation.

Further, ChatGPT noted the unique advantages the R1 holds in certain aspects, and some of the specific user needs it must have met. However, they feel that the AI market has more to offer, and they can be a huge part of that going forward.

Take nothing from DeepSeek R1, though. Even on the international large model ranking list, Chatbot Arena, the benchmark test ranking of DeepSeek-R1 has found its way to third place among all large models. It is on par with the latest version of OpenAI's ChatGPT-4o.

As the days go by, it's left to be seen whether the R1 will continue its steady rise.
