Mozilla may not have launched its own AI model, but its Firefox browser is actively exploring more AI-powered features. The recently unveiled link preview feature has garnered significant attention.

Effortless Application 

The underlying principle behind this feature is quite simple. While browsing web pages in Firefox, users can hover their mouse over a hyperlink, and Firefox will then automatically utilize AI technology to access the link, generate a content summary, and display it to the user.

Through this action, users can get a preview of the webpage's main information without clicking the link. If the preview doesn't interest them, they can choose to skip it and avoid opening the page. This makes browsing more efficient, allowing users to quickly filter out content that doesn't interest them.

The AI-generated link preview will include the webpage's main information and a summary. For a deeper dive, users will still need to click the link to access the full content. This design effectively balances user experience and website traffic, preventing users from directly obtaining the entire webpage content via AI and thus minimizing the impact on real website visits. It's also worth noting that Google offers a similar link preview feature in its Chrome browser, but it doesn't currently use AI for content summarization. It's expected that Google will also adopt AI soon to improve the accuracy of content summaries.
