New Funding Round Propels AI Startup Anaconda to $1.5 Billion Valuation
The startup has received more funds to scale up its AI platform.
Artificial intelligence startup Anaconda Inc. has raised a new funding round that values the company at $1.5 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Improved Valuation
The company, which provides AI development tools for developers and data scientists, raised more than $150 million in the funding round, it plans to announce Thursday. The deal was led by Insight Partners, with participation from investors including Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Co.
The company declined to comment on its valuation — which jumped from just $222 million in 2021, according to PitchBook data. The person familiar with the latest figure asked not to be identified because the number is private.
Along with the new funding, Anaconda on Wednesday said it was building out its executive suite and expanding offerings for companies using its tools, aiming to become a comprehensive AI platform. Anaconda, founded in 2012, is currently in an ongoing search for a permanent chief executive officer.
Anaconda has focused on the programming language Python, which it said in a statement “has become synonymous with AI development.”
“You cannot build or ship any AI system without Python,” said George Mathew, managing director at Insight Partners. “You need a programming language that’s built for the modern age of AI.”
