How Lovable Reached a $13.3 Billion Valuation With a $400 Million AI Funding Round
Swedish AI coding startup Lovable has raised $400 million in a Series C funding round led by Menlo Ventures and the Scaleup Europe Fund, doubling its valuation to $13.3 billion in just seven months as demand for vibe-coding platforms skyrockets.
The AI coding revolution just got a whole lot more expensive—and valuable. Swedish startup Lovable has officially confirmed a massive $400 million Series C funding round, pushing its valuation to an eye-watering $13.3 billion. That's more than double the $6.6 billion valuation the company commanded just seven months ago, when it raised $330 million in its Series B.
The round was co-led by Menlo Ventures and the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund, an EU-backed investment vehicle, with participation from Chinese tech giant Tencent, Balderton Capital, and other new investors from Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The funding places Lovable among Europe's most valuable private AI companies, now just behind French AI model-maker Mistral's roughly $14 billion valuation.
The company lets users build fully functional software using nothing but natural-language prompts—a concept known as "vibe coding" that's rapidly democratizing software development.
The numbers tell the story: since its November 2024 launch, more than 60 million projects have been created on the platform, and Lovable-built apps now attract over 900 million visits per month.
Revenue growth has been equally staggering. Annual recurring revenue has nearly tripled from $200 million and is tracking toward $600 million by the end of August, the startup said. Major enterprises including Nvidia, Deutsche Telekom, and Adidas are already building on the platform, signaling strong enterprise adoption.
The AI coding space is red-hot, with SpaceX agreeing to buy rival Cursor for $60 billion in June and Emergent raising $130 million at a $1.5 billion valuation just last month.
Lovable's CEO and co-founder Anton Osika said the new funding will help the company accelerate its product, infrastructure, and team growth—with plans to expand to roughly 450 employees this year, hiring heavily in machine learning, product, and security roles. But perhaps most telling is Osika's broader ambition: "This funding lets us move faster on the product, infrastructure, and team needed to make Lovable the best place to build and run a business".
The company isn't just building software—it's building a platform for running entire businesses, a shift that could reshape how companies of all sizes approach technology development.
The gap between Europe's AI champions and American giants like Anthropic ($1.2 trillion secondary valuation) and OpenAI ($933 billion) remains vast, but Lovable's meteoric rise suggests the vibe-coding wave is just getting started.
