Baidu Unveils ERNIE 5.0, a Powerful Omni-Modal AI Foundation Model with Multimodal Understanding and New AI Products
Baidu launches ERNIE 5.0, its latest AI foundation model processing text, images, audio, and video for advanced reasoning and generation. Alongside, Baidu introduces a self-evolving AI agent Famou and upgraded no-code builder Miaoda, targeting global expansion
At its Baidu World 2025 event, Baidu officially unveiled ERNIE 5.0, an advanced omni-modal foundation model that represents a new milestone in artificial intelligence. Built with 2.4 trillion parameters, ERNIE 5.0 natively processes multiple data types—text, images, audio, and video—enabling comprehensive multimodal understanding and content generation. This makes it one of the most powerful AI models currently available, rivaling top international AI systems.
ERNIE 5.0’s core upgrades include superior multimodal comprehension, logical reasoning, memory, persuasive communication, and creative writing abilities. One standout feature, termed "Thinking with Images," allows dynamic zooming and fine-grained analysis of images, mimicking human visual problem-solving when combined with advanced image search.
Baidu also launched Famou, a next-generation self-evolving AI agent that autonomously adapts to user needs and complex workflows. Famou represents Baidu’s push to embed AI deeply in intelligent agent experiences that evolve through usage.
Another significant release is Miaoda, an upgraded no-code AI builder designed to democratize AI application development, enabling enterprises and developers with limited programming skills to design intelligent workflows quickly and intuitively.
ERNIE 5.0 underpins Baidu’s enhanced search engine capabilities and next-generation digital human technologies, aiming to deliver richer, more natural interactions domestically and in international markets including Southeast Asia and the U.S. The model is accessible via Baidu’s Qianfan large model platform, offering API services to developers and enterprise users.
Baidu founder Robin Li emphasized that continuous iteration and integration of large-scale models remain core to Baidu’s competitive edge, reflecting a strategic commitment to maintaining leadership in AI innovation.
