Cassava Technologies Launches CAIMEx, Africa’s First Multi-Model AI Platform for Mobile-Network Operators
Cassava Technologies introduces CAIMEx, Africa’s inaugural multi-model AI platform tailored for mobile-network operators, offering access to top AI systems from global providers on a single locally managed platform with regional data sovereignty.
Cassava Technologies, a leading pan-African technology company owned by Zimbabwean entrepreneur Strive Masiyiwa, has launched CAIMEx (Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange), the first-of-its-kind multi-model AI platform designed specifically for mobile-network operators (MNOs) across Africa. This groundbreaking platform unifies access to advanced AI systems from global leaders such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, all through a single, locally hosted, and managed platform.
CAIMEx aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI innovations and African market needs, allowing MNOs to leverage powerful AI tools without the prohibitive costs and technical barriers normally associated with deploying multiple AI systems. By integrating diverse large language models—including Claude and Gemini—operators can select the models that best meet their customer engagement, automation, and product innovation goals.
Importantly, Cassava hosts all services within its network of regional AI facilities to ensure compliance with local data protection laws, preserve data sovereignty, and boost performance by keeping data and processing within the continent. This localization supports privacy, faster response times, and aligns with regulatory frameworks emerging across Africa.
CAIMEx is designed not only for large-scale telecom providers but also to empower smaller and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa, expanding AI access and enabling competitive and innovative digital offerings regionally. With plans underway to build five AI “factories” across Africa and a strategic investment partnership with NVIDIA, Cassava Technologies is positioning itself at the forefront of Africa’s AI ecosystem development.
Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Cassava AI, emphasized the platform’s transformative potential: “With CAIMEx, we’re creating a bridge between global innovation and African ambition… enabling operators to offer world-class AI services to millions of users.”
This launch reflects Cassava Technologies’ broader mission to foster digital independence and ensure Africa contributes to—not just consumes—the global AI economy, bridging innovation with local relevance.
