World teams with Tinder and Visa to expand biometric ID tech for dating and payments
World partners with Tinder and Visa to bring its eyeball-scanning ID verification to dating apps and launch a crypto Visa card, aiming for mainstream adoption of secure digital identity.
World, the biometric identity company known for its eyeball-scanning Orb devices, has announced major new partnerships with Tinder and Visa, signaling a significant push to bring its ID-verifying technology to a broader audience. The company revealed these collaborations at a recent event, unveiling a vision for secure, user-friendly digital identity across both online dating and everyday payments.
Through a pilot program with Match Group, Tinder’s parent company, World will introduce its World ID verification to Tinder users in Japan. This move aims to combat fake profiles and bots, enhancing trust and safety for users seeking real connections. If successful, the integration could expand to other Match Group platforms and additional markets, making biometric verification a standard feature in online dating.
At the same time, World is joining forces with Visa to launch The World Card, a crypto-linked Visa card expected to debut in the United States later this year. The card will connect directly to users’ World App wallets, allowing them to spend cryptocurrencies like WLD tokens anywhere Visa is accepted. Transactions will be automatically converted to local currency for merchants, eliminating the need for them to handle crypto directly. The card may also offer rewards for select AI subscriptions and services, further incentivizing adoption.
World’s technology, developed by Tools for Humanity and backed by hundreds of millions in venture funding, has already created digital IDs for millions globally. However, mainstream acceptance has been hampered by the complexity of its iris-scanning verification process. By embedding its ID system into popular platforms like Tinder and integrating with widely accepted payment systems like Visa, World aims to make biometric identity verification more accessible and practical for everyday use.
Additional partnerships with platforms such as Kalshi and Morpho will allow users to log in using their World IDs, streamlining access to financial and prediction market services. The company is also rolling out its platform in six major US cities, with plans to deploy thousands of Orbs and even develop portable “Mini-Orbs” for easier verification in the future.
These strategic alliances mark a pivotal step for World as it seeks to move beyond niche crypto circles and establish its biometric ID as a trusted standard for digital identity, online safety, and seamless payments worldwide.
