OpenAI has released GPT-5.2, the latest iteration in its frontier model family, and is pitching it as its most capable system yet for professional and enterprise-grade work. The launch comes as competition with Google’s Gemini intensifies, with OpenAI emphasizing major upgrades in reasoning, coding, and long-context analysis to retain leadership in the AI race.

GPT-5.2 arrives in three main flavors – Instant, Thinking, and Pro – each tuned for distinct workloads from fast everyday assistance to deep, computation-heavy reasoning. Instant focuses on speed for common tasks like drafting, translation, and quick research, while Thinking allocates more compute for complex problem solving, analysis of long documents, and multi-step coding or planning work, with Pro targeting maximum accuracy and reliability for high-stakes tasks.

Under the hood, GPT-5.2 delivers broad benchmark gains across coding, mathematics, science, vision, and tool use, reflecting a push toward more systematic reasoning rather than surface-level pattern matching.
